Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline featuring celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences increasing in power within Dol-Makjar.
Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of the new season are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
Episode 3 concluded with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of characters who will branch out from the primary party to begin their separate journey, separate from the additional parties.
This warrior group features Teor Pridesire (played by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).
The Reason for Division
Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that keeping everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Warriors, Strategists, and Seekers.
The Nature of the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for participants who prefer a classically intense combat and conflict-driven gameplay experience where non-violent answers are scarce.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
First, the party knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose death initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated the enemy for his own means, breaking into the secret base, striking the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to dispose of.
The traitor then paid off his debts and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, north of Dol-Makjar, with Teor’s brother close behind.
Character Drivers
Moreover, each character has a personal reason to exit Dol-Makjar:
- The rogue, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty environment.
- Tyranny and The healer, having resisted his house’s orders to eliminate the fighter and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- But, their status as key figures in House Halovar could assist the team enter places they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a unbreakable promise to Wicander for his deliverance and will now go with him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a variety of reasons, making lingering locally no longer safe:
- Thimble and The character are known criminals.
- Tyranny and The healer turned against House Halovar and the legion of demons they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to head to the northern region in quest for the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
Based on episode three’s Cooldown, we find out that the warrior group will not appear next week, leaving the other eight cast members to assemble the Questers and Strategists tables.
Fans can anticipate learning which players will be in which group in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
